The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg is an Institute of the Max Planck Society, which is Germany’s most successful research organization. The Institute in Luxembourg carries out collaborative research in the fields of international Procedural Law.
The Institute is currently recruiting a:

IT Support Officer (m/f)
- Permanent position
- full time, 40 hrs/week

An IT Support Officer is required to work as part of the team providing core IT services to our students and members of staff. You are experienced in typical IT help desk procedures and possess prior experience in a customer-facing role.

Your tasks

- Maintain a first class level of customer services ensuring that all users are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems and across a range of software applications as well as IT and communication equipment.
- Take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes.
- Work with an IT Service Desk ticketing system to accurately record, update and document requests
- Create, maintain and publish relevant support documentation in order to assist all colleagues in the quick resolution of their incidents and IT requests and enable users to become more self-sufficient.
- Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
- Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels within and outside of the organisation.
- Be a highly motivated team player with the skills and ability to manage changing priorities
- Guarantee smooth operations of our academic events from a technical aspect (sometimes even out of usual working hours)
- Be willing to attend internal training as necessary to keep up to date with the latest technology and internal system processes.

Your profile

- Ability to handle Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office products and operational standards software.
- Ability to handle Apple Mac OS X system
- Knowledge of IT hardware, networking and peripherals.
- Secondary level education (at least A Level standard) and ideally have some certification of IT skills or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong communication skills, presenting technical issues verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- High level of personal integrity as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
- Team player
- Excellent command of English and German, another language would be an asset.
