Ana Harvey (Koprivica) defended her doctoral dissertation

The doctoral dissertation of Ana Harvey (Koprivica) was publicly examined on Monday 17 February 2020 at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. As a Research Fellow, Ana Harvey (Koprivica) conducted research in the area of international arbitration and comparative procedural law, with a special focus on the fair trial standards. Ana Harvey (Koprivica) was a member of the International Max Planck Research School for Successful Dispute Resolution in International Law (IMPRS-SDR).

Her PhD thesis, entitled “Public Hearings in Investor-State Arbitration: Revisiting the Principle”, has been supervised by Professor Hess and conducted at the University of Luxembourg. It re-examines the evolution, the scope, and the operation of the principle of public hearings in light of recent trends in investor-state arbitration (and beyond) towards more transparency.

The jury members were Professor Séverine Menetrey from the University of Luxembourg (President), Dr John Sorabji from University College London (Vice-President), Professor Burkard Hess (Supervisor), Professor Mark Villiger from University of Zurich (Member), and Professor Enrique Vallines García from Complutense University Madrid (Member).
