Coronavirus: prevention measures at the MPI Luxembourg

13 March 2020

The health, welfare and safety of our guests, visitors and staff is a top priority for the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and subsequent rise in COVID-19 infections in Europe and in Luxembourg, the Institute’s Management Board has adopted a number of precautionary measures to minimise the spread of any infection.

The latest initiatives and recommendations from the Government of Luxembourg advised that a maximum of staff should work from home.

During this critical time, the Institute will remain open but working habits will be modified.

  • As of Monday, 16 March 2020 and for the next 14 days, we encourage all of our staff and guests to work remotely. Access to the Weicker building is only permitted to those staff members who have been explicitly informed by the Management Board.
  • All Institute events are cancelled.
  • The Institute and the library (Weicker building) will not be accessible for external visitors.

The Management Board will inform staff members, guests and visitors when these temporary measures are lifted.
