In May 2013, the ILA Committee on Protection of Privacy in Private International and Procedural Law was established to create a discussion forum on the protection of privacy in the context of private international and procedural law.
In promoting international cooperation on these matters, and with a view to contributing to more predictability on the issues of jurisdiction and applicable substantive law, this Committee especially focuses on human rights, data protection, the relationship with freedoms of speech and religion, technical developments, legislation nationally and internationally and recent case-law of national and international courts.
The ILA Committee on Protection of Privacy in Private International and Procedural Law will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Burkhard Hess. Prof. Andrew Dickinson, external scientific fellow of the Institute, will be the general rapporteur.
