New book published in the MPI Luxembourg Book Series: Judicial Reforms in Luxembourg and Europe

24 September 2014

Essays on judicial reforms and the organization of the judiciary from the point of view of independence, accountability and efficiency.

By establishing a „Conseil national de la Justice“ and a „Cour suprême“, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is facing a substantial reform of its organisation of the judiciary. In June 2013 these changes were discussed during a conference at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. This conference book offers a basis for further debate in the ongoing reform process. At the same time, the book offers a comparative view on the organisation of the judiciary in other Member States, raising the issues of judicial independence, accountability and efficiency.

The contributing authors are: Remo Caponi, Georgios Dimitropoulos, Rusen Ergec, Leny de Groot-van Leeuwen, Burkhard Hess, Luc Heuschling, Sevérine Menétrey, Christos Rozakis, Anja Seibert-Fohr, Marcel Storme, Sophie Turenne, Stefaan Voet.
The volume inaugurates the book series “Studies of the Max Planck Institutes Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law”.
