Workshop on the reforms of the Chinese judicial system with experts from Asia, Europe and America

This workshop will deal with the reforms of the judicial system that are currently taking place in China. In particular, the role of the Supreme People’s Court, the application of the law in judicial practice and the position of the judiciary within the state will be discussed.

Leading scholars from three continents as well as Research Fellows of the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg will give short impulse statements, followed by seminar-style discussions. Speakers will include Margaret Woo (Northeastern University), Yulin Fu (Peking University), Knut Benjamin Pissler (Max Planck Institute Hamburg), Björn Ahl (University of Cologne), Pei Lu and Nils Pelzer (both Max Planck Institute Luxembourg).
