EU Commission Study on the Impact of National Civil Procedure – Meeting of the Consortium and Advisory Board

Meetings
18 November 2016

On the 18ᵗʰ of November, the Max Planck Institute will host a meeting of the Advisory Board, and Consortium working on the EU Commission Study on the impact of national civil procedure (JUST/2014/RCON/PR/CIVI/0082). This Study focuses on the influence of national civil procedure on the free circulation of judgments and the application of EU consumer law in the EU Member States.

The November meeting will build on the work undertaken during the first half of the research project, wherein the National Reporters in every EU Member State have gathered and analysed empirical and legal data, concerning national procedures and practices, and have presented a comprehensive report, based on a uniform template prepared by the MPI.

During the event, the Members of the Consortium undertaking the Study will draw conclusions on the evaluation and comparison of the contents of the reports. This will allow the Members of the Consortium, who are now engaged in the preparation of the relevant parts of the General Report, to refine and concretise their contributions. The Consortium and Advisory Board will discuss and assess the findings of the General Report, and in particular, the policy recommendations contained therein, to be submitted by the Commission.

The Study involves researchers from the Universities of Florence, Ghent, Heidelberg, Madrid (Complutense), Oxford, Paris (Sorbonne), Rotterdam, Uppsala, Vienna and Warsaw and National Reporters from all EU Member States.

Event participation is by invitation only; however, anybody with an interest in the topics covered by the Study is warmly invited to share their experiences and opinions by visiting the website of the Study.
