Carlos studied at the University of Santiago de Compostela and at the University of Fribourg (ERASMUS), obtaining his diploma in 2014. Afterwards, he pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Saarland (LL.M. program in European and International Law) and at the University of Luxembourg (LL.M. program in European Economic and Financial Criminal Law).

In July 2016, he started working at the Max Planck Institute in Luxembourg as a student assistant. Prior to joining the MPI as a Research Fellow, he worked as a junior legal officer in a multinational financial services firm settled in Luxembourg.

Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Luxembourg, writing a thesis about the enforcement of the European Account Preservation Order Regulation in Germany, France, Luxembourg and Spain.
