Parvathi Menon is a Research Fellow and a PhD candidate at the University of Helsinki under the supervision of Prof. Martti Koskenniemi. She has an LL.M. from Harvard Law School (2012) and another LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Public International Law (2007). Before joining the Max Planck, Parvathi was a Lecturer in Public International Law and International Criminal Law at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, from 2007-09, and also at the University of The Gambia, in Legal Theory and Public International Law from 2012-13. She was awarded a research fellowship to the Erik Castren Institute of International Law and Human Rights in Helsinki from 2009-10. She is currently a nominated member of the International Law Association’s Committee on Complementarity in International Criminal Law (since 2016). Her doctoral research focuses on Protection Strategies and International Law within the British Empire. Her research interests include legal theory, history of international law and international criminal law.
