Remy Jorritsma is a Research Fellow. He holds an LL.B. European Law School (2009) and an LL.M. Globalisation and Law (2010, cum laude) from Maastricht University. Before joining the Institute he worked as a lecturer in public international law at Maastricht University, teaching various graduate and undergraduate courses on public international law, including International Dispute Settlement and International Humanitarian Law. He attended postgraduate specialization courses organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (2011 and 2013) and the Hague Academy of International Law (Public International Law session and directed studies, 2014). He was also a member of the group of experts and project management team for the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War’s Leuven Manual on the International Law Applicable to Peace Operations (Cambridge University Press, 2017, 403pp). His PhD research concentrates on the relationship between attribution rules as found in the (secondary) law of State responsibility, and the content, scope and application of substantive (primary) rules of public international law.
