TRANSATLANTIC DATA TRANSFERS

International Conference

15 September 2023, 09:00 am - 03:30 pm CEST

This event will examine recent changes in the U.S. legal safeguards for foreign surveillance programs, and will consider their significance in the context of European fundamental rights and data protection law. The European Commission has found that the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), and attendant changes to U.S. law, meet the requirements of EU data protection law for data transfers to the United States. A challenge before the Court of Justice of the European Union to the prospective adequacy decision for the United States may be brought.

This conference will bring together EU and U.S. government officials, academic experts and company and civil society representatives for an in-depth exploration of the key dimensions of the DPF in relation to EU law.

Hybrid Event

Venue: The event is taking place at the premises of the MPI Luxembourg. Digital participation is possible. Upon invitation only.
