International Claims Commissions

11-12 March 2021

International Claims Commissions (ICCs) were created for the specific purpose of resolving claims arising from a particular event or defined categories of disputes and are established to consider claims resulting from significant international war-related or traumatic historical events. ICCs encompass unique forms of binding adjudication. Ad hoc bodies, their structure, jurisdiction, procedure and ability to provide remedy vary considerably. At the occasion of this webinar gathering authors for the Research Handbook that C. Giorgetti, P. Pearsall and H. Ruiz Fabri are co-editing, the ICCs will be examined from three different points: a historical overview, unique legal features, and possible future use.
