DROIT INTERNATIONAL ET

GRAND-DUCHÉ DE LUXEMBOURG

5 - 6 MAI 2022 - Conférence internationale

The conference ‘International Law and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’ will bring together experts in the field of international and Luxemburgish law to examine the impacts of international law on the Grand Duchy’s legal system and the impact of Luxembourg as an international law maker. The conference will begin with an introduction into the topic by the Director of the Department of International Law and Dispute Resolution, Prof. Ruiz Fabri, and former Senior Research Fellow Prof. Stoppioni (University of Strasbourg). The conference will then examine the historical effect of international law on Luxembourg, the effect of international law on Luxembourgish constitutional history, and the role of Luxembourg in European integration. This will be followed by an examination of supraconstitutionality from a comparative perspective – thereby touching upon supraconstitutionalism in Luxembourgish law and the form of Luxembourgish constitutional principles in response to the evolution of international human rights law.

The Conference will touch upon the invocation and interpretation of international law before the national judiciary and the Luxembourgish experience of international jurisdictions, including the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Benelux Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. Finally, the conference will touch upon the role of international legal rules and principles in Luxembourgish domestic lawmaking.

The event is taking place at the premises of the MPI Luxembourg. Registration for this event is now closed.
