The 77ᵗʰ ILA Biennial Conference will take place from 7 to 11 August 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Conference's theme will be 'International Law and State Practice: Is there a North/South Divide?'

In the framework of this Conference, the ILA Committee on the Protection of Privacy in Private International and Procedural Law, chaired by Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess, will hold an Open Working Session on Monday, 8 August 2016 (from 14.00 to 18.00) and a Closed meeting on Tuesday, 9 August 2016 (from 10.30 to 12.30, to be confirmed). The latter event is by invitation only.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, 10 August 2016 (from 9.00 to 13.00) Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess will chair the Open Working Session of the ILA Committee on Intellectual Property & Private International Law.

Prof. Helene Ruiz Fabri will present the mandate of the newly established ILA Committee on the Procedure of International Courts and Tribunals that she co-chairs together with Prof. Philippe Sands and Shotaro Hamamoto.

On Monday, 8 August 2016, she will also take part in the meeting of the ILA Study Group on Content and Evolution of the Rules of Interpretation, of which she is a member.

On Thursday 11 August (from 09.00 - 13.00), she will chair the Open Working Session of the ILA Committee on Feminism and International law.
