The 78ᵗʰ ILA Biennial Conference will take place from 19 to 24 August 2018 in Sydney, Australia. The core theme of the Conference will be "Developing International Law in Challenging Times".

In the framework of this Conference, the ILA Committee on the Procedure of International Courts and Tribunals, chaired by Prof. Dr. Hélène Ruiz Fabri, will hold its Open Working Session on Tuesday, 21 August 2018 (from 13.30 to 15.00). On this occasion, the Committee will present and discuss its first Interim Report.

The ILA Committee on the Protection of Privacy in Private International and Procedural Law, chaired by Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess, will hold its Open Working Session on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 (from 11.00 to 12.30). On this occasion, the Committee will present and discuss its first Interim Report, comprising the Guidelines that the Committee is in the process of drafting and the commentary thereto.

On Wednesday, 22 August 2018 (from 9.00 to 10.30), Prof. Dr. Hélène Ruiz Fabri will also chair the Open Working Session of the ILA Study Group on General Principles of Law and the Rules-Based Order. On the same day (from 13.30 to 15.00), Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess will chair the Open Working Session of the ILA Committee on International Commercial Arbitration.
