Donation of Prof. Catherine Kessedjian to the MPI Library

12 April 2016

Prof. Catherine Kessedjian, Professor at Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II and President of the International Law Association-French Branch, has donated part of her personal library to Max Planck Institute Luxembourg.

This donation holds 466 books and 25 journals (1784 issues and 89 bound volumes, including “La Gazette du Palais” since 1943 until 1999) and it represents a great added value to our general collection.

Prof. Kessedjian has held teaching positions in many countries, including Hauser Global Visiting Professor at NYU Law School (USA). She will be Wainwright Visiting Professor at McGill Faculty of Law (Canada) in 2017. From 1996 to 2000, she served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law in The Hague, Netherlands, with responsibility for several projects, including a proposed worldwide convention on jurisdiction and judgments and background reports for a study on international Internet and e-commerce regulation. She has published extensively - over 150 books and articles - on many aspects of international law and dispute resolution. She was a practicing lawyer in Paris for many years and has been active in the International Bar Association. She is a life member of the American Law Institute and an advisor on several ALI projects.

The Max Planck Institute is grateful to Prof. Kessedjian for her support and her kind donation.
