The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg is honoured to announce the publication of the book “The 50th Anniversary of the European Law of Civil Procedure”.

This book stems from an international conference to mark the 50th anniversary of the Brussels Convention on jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgments of 1968. The conference took place on 27–28 September 2018 and was organised by the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg in the Grande Salle d’Audience of the Court.

Prominent academics from different EU Member States and distinguished members of the Court discussed the impact of the case law of the Court of Justice on the development of the “Brussels Regime” during the last decades. https://www.mpi.lu/news-and-events/2018/september/27-28/the-50th-anniversary-of-the-european-law-of-civil-procedure/

The book brings together contributions by members of the Court of Justice of the European Union and academics. It also includes contributions presented by young shcolars at a pre-conference colloquium organized at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. The book offers insights on the dialogue between the Court of Justice and national courts on the interpretation of the European law of civil procedure and how it shaped the Europeanisation of private international law. Beyond this retrospective assessment, the book reflects on the future architecture of the European law of civil procedure and the suitability of the Brussels regime to the challenges of the current era.

The book is electronically available. For more information, please check the following link: https://www.nomos-elibrary.de/10.5771/9783748910619/the-50th-anniversary-of-the-european-law-of-civil-procedure#
