Güneş Ünüvar is a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Luxembourg.

He obtained his PhD from the Centre of Excellence for International Courts (iCourts), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, his LL.M. from the Institute for European Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and his law degree from Faculty of Law, Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. Before joining MPIL, he was a Carlsberg Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow at iCourts, a Visiting Researcher at Columbia University in New York and the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels. He is admitted to Ankara Bar Association since 2012. Güneş’s research generally focuses on international economic law and more specifically international investment law and its raison d’etre, megaregional trade and investment agreements, state capital and cross-border investments, international corporate responsibility, as well as international economic dispute settlement. Over the last decade, he has extensively lectured on international economic law and investment law, as well as EU constitutional law, EU competition law, international sales law and international dispute settlement.
