Professor Hakan Pekcanitez

After his graduation from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1978, Professor Pekcanitez completed his doctorate in 1980 at the Ankara University, Faculty of Law with his thesis entitled “Complaint in Execution and Bankruptcy Law”. He was assistant professor at the Department of Civil Procedure, Execution and Bankruptcy in Izmir in 1986 and carried out studies at Freiburg’s Albert Ludwig University. In 1997, he was appointed professor. He was guest lecturer at Goethe University Frankfurt, Faculty of Law; at Trier University, Faculty of Law; and at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Faculty of Law. Professor Pekcanitez has been a professor since 2004 at Galatasaray University, Faculty of Law, in Istanbul. He is the author of numerous books and has written more than 70 articles.

Professor Pekcanitez is also a board member at Galatasaray University, a registered lawyer of the Istanbul Bar Association, a member of the World Association of Procedural Jurists and has chaired the Commission of Jurists of Turkish Law of Civil Procedure for ten years. From 25 - 28 May, he will be the chairman of the organizing committee of the İnternational Association of Procedural Law. Professor Pekcanitez’ research in Luxembourg will deal with the “reform of institutions”. He will also be a commentator on this topic at the Congress in May.
