Moshe Hirsch is the Von Hofmannsthal Professor of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Department of International Relation and Law Faculty) and Co-director of the International Law Forum at the Hebrew University Law Faculty. Prof. Hirsch specializes in international legal theory (particularly sociological analysis of international law), international economic law, and public international law. He co-organizes a series of international workshops on the sociology of international law. A significant part of his publications involves interdisciplinary research that employs, inter alia, sociological theories, game theory, political economy and international relations theory.

His recent publications include; "Invitation to the Sociology of International Law" (Oxford University Press; 2015); “The Sociology of International Economic Law” (European Journal of International Law, 2008); "Explaining Compliance and Non-Compliance with ICSID Awards: a Multiple Theoretical Approach" (Journal of International Economic Law, 2016); “African Countries in the World Trading System” (co-author, International & Comparative Law Quarterly, 2012); "Interactions between Investment and Non-Investment Obligations in International Investment Law", in Oxford Handbook of International Law on Foreign Investment (Oxford University Press, 2008);  and “Developing Countries”, in The Encyclopedia of Public International Law (Max Planck Institute 2008).

In addition to lecturing at the Hebrew University, Prof. Hirsch taught numerous courses on international economic law and international legal theory in other academic institutions (including in London, Toronto, Dundee, Berlin Oñati, New York, Zurich, Vancouver, and Macau).
