Fernando DIAS SIMÕES is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau (China). He also regularly teaches at the Summer Institute on Climate Change and Environmental Protection (Beijing) and the Institute of International Studies at Ramkhamhaeng University (Bangkok). He holds positions as Senior Research Fellow at the University Institute of European Studies (Italy), Senior Research Associate and Member of the Scientific Committee at Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development (gLAWcal, UK), Member of the Asia WTO Research Network, and Rapporteur for Oxford International Organizations (OXIO, Oxford University Press and Manchester International Law Centre). He has received research grants from the European Commission, Institute of European Studies of Macau, and University of Macau; has served as Marie Curie Fellow at Beijing Normal University, and as visiting scholar at both Emory and McGill University. Dr. Dias Simões’ primary research field is International Dispute Settlement, especially Commercial Arbitration and Investor-State Arbitration. During his stay at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg, he will conduct research on the impact of energy-related disputes on International Investment Law and Arbitration.
