David Althoff is a Research Fellow in the Department of European and Comparative Procedural Law. He holds an LLB from the University of Amsterdam and an LLM in Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law, and in Civil Law, from Leiden University. Before joining the Institute, David worked as Legal Counsel at the Stichting Internationaal Juridisch Instituut (IJI) in The Hague, Netherlands. He is an external PhD candidate at Leiden University. His research is about the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters in Dutch national private international law. In addition, David is a deputy secretary at the Dutch Standing Government Committee on Private International Law since October 2018.
