Somesh Dutta is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law in the Department of International Law and Dispute Resolution.
He holds an integrated Bachelor of Arts & Law degree (B.A. LL.B. with honors) along with a specialization in Energy Laws from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (India), and an LL.M. from the Master in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) Programme jointly offered by the Geneva University Law School and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Switzerland).
Somesh has also been awarded the Special Certificate of Honors in International Law from the Xiamen Academy of International Law, China.
Prior to joining the Institute, Somesh worked with the public international law and international arbitration practice of an international law firm in Paris. His previous experience includes working with the International Court of Justice and with the Ministry of External Affairs - Legal and Treaties Division (India). His PhD research at the University of Luxembourg focuses on the future of treaty-based investment adjudication.
His research interests include international commercial and investment arbitration, international investment law and comparative constitutional law.
